HISTORY

The concept for this project arose after Alice endured a difficult hospital experience dealing with a range of medical issues, some of which are still very much under diagnosis. She was met with conflicting medical theories and numerous negative experiences, exposing her to the stark reality of the gender data gap in medicine.

Alice highlights how women's health is often misunderstood and underrepresented, expressed through twelve objects. By creating these dozen body objects, the aim is to challenge societal norms and give others a deeper understanding of the unique challenges faced by women within medicine.

This series of twelve representing the female body parts named after men, serve as powerful symbols of the female experience, emphasising the need for more inclusive and equal medical treatment for women. Through this collection, Alice not only tells her own story but also gives voice to countless women who have faced similar struggles by giving a space for these issues to be addressed.

These experiences need to be spoken about to initiate change.
