Alice Steele’s practice explores the relationship between trauma, memory and the body. Her work investigates how language and its meanings can be translated into physical forms that occupy the topological space of the body, adorning and interacting with the human form.

Steele is interested in how wearable objects are perceived by the viewer, and how their relationship with the wearer creates a dialogue between the body, the object and the memory. Through material manipulation of surface and form, she creates artwear that engages with the human form and explores the ways in which personal narratives can be embodied through material.
